Gianluca Masi, astrophysicist and science communicator by profession, has been a photographer for a long time. Early in the ’80s of last century he started imaging intensively, experimenting a host of different techniques, both in his darkroom and on the field. On the meantime, he studied not only the technicalities, but also the physics and chemistry involved in photography, creating an excellent basis for any kind of application, ready to support his creativity. His work ranges from astrophotography (both with telescopes and ordinary lenses) to theater, crossing wildlife, reportage, arts and people. Nowadays, Gianluca Masi works on digital imaging, with strong benefits, both at the imaging time and post-production, from the past experience and knowledge coming from the ancient times of film photography, as well as from the deep mathematical knowledge gained in his scientific endeavours.
